When researching the exhibition and distribution of short films I became aware of the legal element in creating a short film. The actors consent was a form signed by the actor giving their permisson to being in the short film and the marketing process of the short film. It also referenced agents consent but our cast member does not have an agent therefore that form was not necessary for this process. As a result I created a consent form which we let Tanaka Makoni read and sign on camera. This was useful because we could discuss with her also what time we were going to meet where it was going to be viewed and who was going to view it.

By completing the actors consent form, we were able to eliminate any legal issues that may have arisen. This also gives us as the directors of the short film to ensure we have the actors loyalty in the fact that she will turn up to filming. This will then lead to the smooth production process of the film.

By having an actors consent I think it helps the actor to ensure that she is aware of what she participating in and maybe if by any reason something arises with the directors then the contract can be there to sort out any issues that may occur. This can also be helpful as it can cause less conflict.
